I’ve never heard these called gonks before, so I had to check what my friend meant when she asked if anyone could make her one. She meant gnome/Tomte, in my language 😂 Anywho, I went all out with this, I’ve never done one this big or with this much detail before! I’ll show his size against a UK 4 pint size of milk. The hat and sleeves are made from sheets I felted and then felted the design on top of. I’m rather excessive when I felt a sheet, in that it can be cut and sewn as a normal piece of fabric, it’s about 7.5-10mm thick. She wanted it as a gift for her partner for Valentine’s, hence the heart and the key to it. 🥰 The hands are also completely posable. 🙂
